Vaishno Devi: popular Hindu pilgrimage center in India

Vaishno Devi is the abode of goddess Vaishno Devi. It is situated in the mountains of Trikuta Hills, in the Jammu and Kashmir state of Northern India. The goddess resides in a beautiful rock cave in the form of 3 ‘Pindis’ which names as “Maha Kali”, “Maha Laxmi” and “Maha Saraswati”. From past history, it has been said that Goddess Durga had killed the demon Bhairon here. Thousands of people from all over the world come and visit this spiritual place.

It is believed that the four objectives of human life as brought forward by Indian spiritual such as—Dharm (righteousness), Moksh (Knowledge), Kaam (Pleasure), and Arth (Wealth). When people visit the holy shrine of Vaishno Devi all these four blessings are conferred on them. However, it is also believed that no one goes empty-handed from the great pilgrimage of Maa Vaishno Devi.

Vaishno Devi is located at 14-km from the town of Katra and 52-km north of Jammu. Furthermore, from Katra to Maa Vaishno Devi pilgrimage, tourists used to walk by foot, take a helicopter from Jammu to Sanjichat, and now with the technology revolution mini auto will also start to run and take passengers from Adhkuwari to Vaishno Devi cave.

There are also some rail lines which come at Jammu railways station. These railway lines is well connected to all the major cities of India. Tourists can also come by air as the nearest airport is in Jammu, which is 48-km from Katra. Vaishno Devi shrine can be visited throughout the year, but owing to snowfall in winter, it can get difficult.

The heaviest rush is during the Navratra periods in September-October and March-April. Tourists will also find several religious temples here such as Bhumika Temple, Ban Ganga Temple, Sri Ram Temple, Bhairon (Bhairav) Temple, etc.

There are several hotels and accommodation is available in Katra and Jammu. There are easily available at the cheapest price rate without any hassle. Talk about the cuisines of this religious place, the tourist will find vegetarian and without onion food here as this is a holy place of Goddess Vaishno Devi.
